day01. is very pleased to present Elegant Gesture, an exhibition showcasing new and recent works by Liliane Tomasko and Diana Copperwhite.
"As with the most powerful gestural abstract paintings, Tomasko and Copperwhite harness gesture as a means of moving the viewer through pictorial space, conveying feeling and motion in the process. They translate the touch of the artist’s hand, and other signs and traces of their bodily involvement in the painting’s making, into effulgences of light, form, and color that multiply and spread. Swirling bands of prismatic color veil and suggest forms, moving through pictorial space and permeating up to the limits of canvas and paper, without ever fully cohering into any discrete references."
