Art on a Postcard is celebrating International Women’s Day with an all-female auction

To celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, Art on a Postcard has invited female artists to create special artworks to be auctioned online.

Luminaries including Claudette Johnson and the Royal Academician Vanessa Jackson have created inspiring postcard-sized works celebrating the multiplicities of women, raising funds for the Hepatitis C Trust.

The charity’s prison peer educator Jane Shea recently launched an initiative called I AM, which calls for women to name the things they identify as being without judgement or justification. The collected responses served as inspiration for the artists participating in the auction.

From 25 February, buyers will be able to bid on the works via the Dreweatts website, each with a reserve starting price of £50. From the London-based artist Lisa Maria Ortiz’s dynamic primary-hued female figures and the Irish painter Diana Copperwhite’s rainbow-washed visage to the floral artist Rebecca Louise Law’s

delicate pencil drawing of a infant and the Scottish realist Rachel Ross’ intricate study of a quail’s egg beside a key and a spoon, each addition is a captivating tribute to the power of female expression.
